I was able to navigate to a sub folder that contained a file I was deleting but this parent folder was not visible and i had set show hidden files.

I tried using unlocker and was able to unlock individual > folders in the "'s documents folder and delete them. I can't even see who owns the folder. One other possibility to consider is that the file or folder is locked or otherwise obscurely "in use". This makes it pretty clear that only the cleaning of the Recycle Bin is involved and that the error involves the secure file deletion step.
