I saw a similar issue with gradle and was able to fix the problem in our build.gradle by switching to the environment variable instead of the command line argument. Any time I attempt to open a Java application, I receive a dialog asking what program I want to open javaw.exe with. Notice however, that the 'correct' directory has a version number, so anytime Java is updated, you'll have to change the Path again.

We tried anything from reinstalling JDK to updating to new IDE version (STS, Juno, Indigo...) without success. Can I hint the optimizer by giving the range of an integer?
